1. JOB PURPOSE
The Consultant Physician will be responsible for providing comprehensive, evidence-based clinical care to patients at Boston Diabetes, Hyderabad. The role includes evaluating and managing patients with diabetes, general medical conditions, and related chronic diseases; developing individualized treatment plans; monitoring clinical progress; coordinating with multidisciplinary teams; and ensuring safe, ethical, and patient-centred care.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Clinical Consultation & Patient Care
Conduct detailed outpatient consultations and assess patients presenting with diabetes, general medical conditions, and related complaints.
Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform appropriate physical examinations.
Assess, diagnose, and manage patients within the scope of General Medicine and the physician’s professional competence.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, investigations, patient needs, and applicable clinical guidelines.
Review patients’ progress and modify treatment plans when clinically indicated.
Provide appropriate counselling to patients and caregivers regarding disease management, medication adherence, lifestyle, diet, and follow-up care.
Identify urgent or high-risk clinical conditions and arrange timely referral or escalation when required.
B. Diabetes & Chronic Disease Management
Evaluate and manage patients with Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, and other clinically relevant forms of diabetes within the physician’s scope.
Monitor glycaemic control and review relevant clinical parameters and investigation reports.
Assess and manage common diabetes-related risk factors and associated chronic conditions.
Support prevention, early identification, and management of diabetes-related complications.
Provide clinical guidance regarding insulin and other glucose-lowering therapies, as appropriate to the patient’s condition.
Manage associated conditions such as hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obesity, and other chronic medical disorders as clinically appropriate.
Coordinate with specialists and other healthcare professionals for complex cases or complications requiring multidisciplinary care.
C. Clinical Assessment & Investigations
Review laboratory reports, imaging, and other diagnostic investigations relevant to patient management.
Order appropriate investigations based on clinical assessment and established protocols.
Interpret investigation results and explain relevant findings to patients in clear language.
Maintain appropriate clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis, and treatment documentation.
Monitor clinical warning signs and ensure timely action for abnormal or critical findings.
D. Patient Safety & Quality of Care
Maintain high standards of patient safety, clinical ethics, and professional conduct.
Ensure appropriate documentation of consultations, diagnoses, prescriptions, investigations, and follow-up plans.
Follow approved clinical protocols, institutional policies, and applicable legal and professional requirements.
Maintain confidentiality and protect patient medical information.
Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives, and patient-safety activities.
Report adverse events, clinical incidents, and patient-safety concerns through the appropriate channels.
E. Coordination & Team Collaboration
Coordinate effectively with nursing staff, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, dietitians, and other clinical teams.
Provide clear clinical instructions and ensure continuity of patient care.
Discuss complex cases with the Medical Director / Clinical Head or relevant specialists when required.
Support clinical training, knowledge sharing, and professional development activities for healthcare staff.
Maintain effective communication with administration regarding clinical workflow and patient-care requirements.
F. Patient Counselling & Health Education
Educate patients regarding diabetes control, medication adherence, nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle modification.
Explain treatment plans, precautions, possible warning signs, and follow-up requirements.
Encourage preventive healthcare, regular monitoring, and timely screening as clinically appropriate.
Communicate with empathy, professionalism, and sensitivity to patient concerns.
G. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records for every patient consultation.
Ensure prescriptions and clinical notes are clear, legible, and compliant with applicable requirements.
Prepare clinical summaries, referral notes, and follow-up documentation as required.
Participate in periodic clinical reviews and submit reports requested by the Medical Director / Management.
Support collection and review of relevant clinical quality indicators.

4. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
MBBS with MD (General Medicine) from a recognized institution.
Minimum 5+ years of relevant post-qualification clinical experience.
Valid registration with the appropriate medical council / regulatory authority, as applicable.
Relevant experience in diabetes care, general medicine, internal medicine, chronic disease management, hospital, or specialty-clinic practice.
Sound knowledge of diabetes management, chronic disease care, clinical assessment, and interpretation of common investigations.
Strong clinical documentation, communication, counselling, and coordination skills.
